BRAZILIAN WAX: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

For some, looking and staying beautiful means getting rid of that unwanted hair here and there. Waxing salons are now offering body waxing services for both women and men. Leg waxing, back waxing, facial waxing, whether it’s for her or waxing for him, they offer all hair removal solutions at the waxing salons.
A procedure that is popular for the beach-loving women out there is what they call the Brazilian wax. This procedure may be painful but considering the awesome results, it sure is worth the pain and trouble. But what is Brazilian Wax anyway?

WHAT IS BRAZILIAN WAX?

What remains to be the most popular method of hair removal. The Brazilian waxwas pioneered by the J Sisters sometime in late 80’s when they opened a waxing salon in Manhattan, New York. The idea was such a hit and gained such popularity thus associating Brazil with this pubic hair removing technique. It involves removing all the pubic hair, including the strands in your behind and the vagina lips, which makes it different from the traditional bikini wax. Aside from going fully bare, customers have the option to leave a “landing strip” or a triangle or even a heart shape on top.

Preparation

Before you head out to any Brazilian wax salon, there are just a few things you need to do to prepare to make the experience more bearable.
  • Having a period makes that area more sensitive. So, try not to make an appointment within three days before your period.
  • Do not shave for at least two weeks before the procedure to grow a little bit of hair down there.
  • If you must, trim your hair about a quarter to half of an inch so the better for the wax to adhere. The longer the hair, the more painful the procedure will be.
  • Exfoliate the night before and have a warm bath before going to your appointment.
  • You may take some painkillers prior to your appointment to make the experience less painful.
  • Avoid putting on any moisturizer down there as that will keep the wax from working properly.

SUGARING: A DIFFERENT TAKE ON REMOVING HAIR

Are you wanting to remove irksome body hair, like under your arms, on your legs, or around your bikini line, but aren’t sure you want to dive straight into a hard body wax or Brazilian wax? You’re in luck. One of the hair removal services we offer at Slim and Clean Body Care And Waxing is sugaring.
Sugaring is a completely natural hair removal method incorporating sugar, lemon, and hot water. These three simple ingredients create a gel substance when mixed together. When applied to the specified area, the sugar wax removes hair directly from its root, rather than pulling at the skin cells. This method of removing body hair has been used for hundreds of years in Greece, the Middle East, and the Northern Africa region.
Compared to more traditional waxing services, sugaring proves successful in the fact that it can remove hair from the root without disrupting or irritating the surrounding skin. With hard wax options, hair is removed effectively, however, the surrounding skin can be pulled during the actual process. With natural ingredients and a more gentle removal method, sugaring yields results without harming. This is a great option for removing hair around areas with sensitive or easily irritated skin.

That being said, it’s important to note that the success of a sugar wax depends on your hair type. You might have to go through a two or three rounds of sugaring before you experience lasting results. After a few sugaring appointments, you will notice that the results from a sugar wax will last longer than those of traditional waxing methods.
Before you schedule an sugar wax appointment with us at Slim and Clean, you’re going to want to do some small preparations:
  • Make sure your hair is at least a quarter inch long. If not, the sugar, lemon, and hot water mixture won’t stick and the sugar wax won’t be effective.
  • Before you head to your appointment, exfoliate the skin around the area you are getting wax. Also, this area should also be oil-free.

The chemical peel treatment that would apply to you would depend on what you want to achieve and on your skin condition.

AHA

Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) peel, is considered to be one of the mildest skin peel treatments out there. This is the perfect treatment for people with sensitive skin or having skin peel treatment for the first time. Best for reducing fine lines, treat sun damaged and dry skin, acne, and even out skin tone.
